I'm furry. And I'm PROUD.

Now, I know I've been worried because so many of my friends have considered furries freaks, but I don't care anymore. I don't wanna pretend I'm someone I'm not. So here I am: Confessing that I'm a furry.

:bulletorange:"What is a furry?"

A furry is someone who takes an interest in the 'anthropomorphic animals and/or mythological or imaginary creatures which possess human or superhuman capabilities.'* Or, in short, someone who takes an interest in animals drawn in ways that they are given human-like aspects. A widely popular example of this would be Bugs Bunny. Or Daffy Duck. Or even Micky Mouse.

:bulletgreen:"Are furries perverted?"

No, we are not perverts. Some of us do like the more mature aspects of the furry fandom, but that would be a very small percentage. The ones that do enjoy something called 'yiffing.'

:bulletorange:"What's 'yiffing'?"

Yiffing is the act of having sex while in a fursuit. And, before you ask, no, this is not the same thing as bestiality! Just because someone likes to have sex while in a fursuit does not mean that they like having sex with animals. It's a completely different concept.

:bulletgreen:"How is a furry different from everybody else?"

A furry is basically the same as the rest of the human population. The only difference is that furries tend to draw animals more and oftentimes make fursuits.

:bulletorange:"Fursuit. You've mentioned that a few times. What's a fursuit?"

A fursuit is like a mascot outfit, oftentimes based around the wearer's fursona and made out of faux fur.

:bulletgreen:"Fursona?"

A fursona is a 'character or identity assumed by a person or player normally associated with the furry fandom.'**

:bulletorange:"How did you know you were a furry?"

Well, I didn't. At first. I've liked drawing animals liked humans, and I've always enjoyed cartoons considerably, but at that time it seemed like kid stuff. When I got older, the appreciation for those things just didn't go away, so I did a bit of research and found out that the things I liked--as well as some of the behaviors that I happened to express--were things that 'furries' liked. So I asked a few questions on Yahoo! Answers and finally came to the conclusion that I am, in fact, a furry.

:bulletgreen:"So...what does this mean to us?"

It could mean absolutely nothing! I was just getting it out that I'm a furry, and I don't care what any of you all think. I enjoy anthro-animal art, as well as anthro-human art, so I'm not going to bash you for not liking the same things as me. We're each different people, and we each have our own likes and dislikes. Just because I happen to enjoy anthropromorphic art doesn't mean I'm going to change anything about what I'm doing.

Sorry, I just figured that I should clear up some things before anybody asked me questions! If you still have questions, however, feel free to note me, and I'll try to answer them as best as I can. c:
